Shaping the psychology of cities. Sharing the knowledge to build healthier urban futures.
Resilient & Inclusive Urban Futures
We investigate how cities can adapt to future challenges while fostering psychological resilience, inclusivity, and well-being. Our work integrates foresight studies, behavioural science, and participatory urbanism to shape the future of urban living.
Research Focus Areas:
- Urban Adaptation & Mental Resilience Exploring how cities can respond to climate change, automation, and demographic shifts without harming psychological well-being.
- Inclusive Urban Policies & Co-Design Developing participatory planning models where diverse communities shape urban policy.
- Community Resilience & Crisis Adaptation Examining how social networks and urban infrastructure contribute to mental and social resilience in times of crisis (e.g., pandemics, climate disasters).
- Design for Vulnerable Populations Ensuring cities accommodate children, older adults, people with disabilities, and marginalised groups.
Applied Urban Action:
- Community-Led Resilience Hubs: Establishing urban spaces that serve as mental health support centers during crises.
- Inclusive City Labs: Engaging marginalised communities in co-designing more accessible, empowering urban environments.
- Urban Policy Toolkits: Creating frameworks for policymakers to integrate psychological resilience into urban governance.
